The Contax Aria is a compact and featherlight 35mm SLR body built on a rigid magnesium alloy chassis, weighing just 460 grams. Produced by Kyocera and sitting at the pinnacle of the Contax/Yashica manual-focus lineage, it pairs a vertical-travelling focal-plane shutter capable of reaching 1/4000 sec with a built-in motor drive that advances film at up to three frames per second, alongside convenient auto-rewind. Four exposure modes Program, Aperture-Priority, Shutter-Priority, and Manual give photographers complete creative control, while the Contax/Yashica MM mount unlocks full compatibility with the celebrated Carl Zeiss T* lens range.

Exposure precision is handled by a versatile TTL metering system offering evaluative, centre-weighted, and spot modes, with the evaluative mode automatically accounting for backlit scenes. Manual ISO override extends the sensitivity range from 6 all the way to 6400, well beyond the DX-coded span of 255000. The matte viewfinder features a microprism collar and split-image rangefinder patch for accurate manual focusing, and TTL flash metering rounds out a feature set that makes the Aria an exceptionally capable and travel-friendly 35mm platform.
